Rick Sadowski: Hunwick in for Benoit (wrist) vs. Panthers; Tanguay (knee) remains out

That would sure be interesting to see mac with duchene.. talk about a speed line holy cow! I am worried about bringing hunwick in though bleah :/ NOT my favorite player the avs have ever had on D.

I don't get to watch as many Avalanche game as I would like, but I was mostly wondering how Benoit is playing? I think he got raw deals in Ottawa and Montreal and I see the stats are good, but I'm also guessing that's PP time? How has he been 5 on 5?

I could have sworn we had two guys In The system that were going to be as good if not better than shattenkirk. Where the hell are these guys?

he has been playing very well actually, he has been one of the more consistent d men for the avalanche this season. Since they have started off with an exceptional record that is saying something for this team. him and Hejda have really impressed me this season.

Elliott and Barrie have been getting a raw deal the last couple of years by never really playing any consistent hockey in the AHL or NHL with the constant call ups, send downs, and healthy scratches under Sacco.

But Elliott has been on a tear since being down in the AHL this season, 9pts in 14 games, and Barrie has been good since being back as well 3pts and 5 games. They just need to play consistent minutes in the A this season, they will be ready next season for sure if not a later call up this year.

Do they call up Olver, Malone, or Hishon to play on the 3rd line with MacKinnon?

I would love to see what Hish and Mac can do

Benoit has been good, a nice 4th man on the depth chart, he hasnt gotten a heck of a whole lot of PP time lately, but what I like about him the most is his passes out of the Avs own end, tape to tape kind of guy.

When he has kept a simple game paired with Sarich they have a good 2nd pairing

no this is good, really shows the depth of the current situation. Had a few minor injurys and hickups, now its times to make some bigger moves so we dont waste this this start.

Holden is not making the cut, send his butt down, hunwick has no business being called up, Elliott has been playing lights out since he was sent down from training camp. Barrie needs more time to work on his game, I even think Barrie is tradable in the right deal for a dman upgrade (Del zotto?)

Talbot has been terrible in the Top 9, let him be on the 4th and healthy Cliche. Mitchell, bc we just traded for talbot, is now expendable. Trade him for a dhelp, even if you have to package him with wilson, and call up a kid with hands from the farm to play in the top 9 role. Olver, Malone, even Hishon will be an upgrade.

MDZ is just another Campoli, no reason to bother trading for him. Also, honestly for the moment I'd rather the Avs let Barrie and Elliot just continue and develop as much as possible in the minors and see if we cant turn this around. I do think we could trade mitchell who hasn't played well as of late.

yeah I agree, I would rather see Barrie and Elliott just stay put in the AHL this year to develop....the Del Zotto suggestion is just a knee jerk reaction. I dont think he is any sort of solution either,

But Mitchell can be shipped out in my opinion. We have Talbot now to center that line and we have promising enough kids on the farm to move onto the 3rd line. Mitchell trade can upgrade the bottom pairing as a UFA one year fix.

One name that intrigues me is Nikita Nikitin from columbus, hes a UFA this summer too

alsto to be honest, I think if you look at the Ranges, Stralman has more value that MDZ right now, however the real target out of them is Girardi
